About Your Club

 

 

 

The N.C.C. Staff Sports & Social Club is an independent, self financing club for all employees of Norfolk County Council. It has its own clubhouse with licensed bar and facilities in the grounds of County Hall, Norwich. Founded by members of NALGO in 1969 for administrative staff, full membership is open to N.C.C. employees and associate membership to employees of District Councils in Norfolk who are employed under APT & C conditions of service.

 

 

The Clubhouse

The Club is in the grounds of County Hall, Norwich. If entering from the Martineau Lane roundabout drive up to the main staff car park at the crest of the hill and then to the left. At the edge of the car park take the footpath to the right, up the hill and branch off left up the long steps which lead directly to the Club set in the trees at the top.

 

 

Facilities

Facilities include a comfortable bar with a full range of products at very competitive prices, specialising in Real Ale. There is a separate general activities room with its own bar that can be hired for private parties. Games and pastimes are available such as Darts, Pool, Snooker, Table Tennis, Short Mat Bowls, Gaming Machines and a TV lounge. In the grounds there are Tennis Courts and a Bowling Green.

Sports Clubs

There are affiliated Sports Clubs for:

Angling, Bowls, Crib, Darts (Ladies), Football, Pool, Retired Members, Short Mat Bowls, Snooker, Swimming, Table Tennis & Tennis.

The majority of these Clubs play in league competitions but they also organise their own competitions and social events.

Activities

A variety of activities are organised for Club members including; Live Bands, Discos, Cabaret, Quiz Nights, Children’s Parties & Special Theme Evenings. Many of these have free admission to members.

An annual sports competition is played over an afternoon and an evening in the summer against our friends and colleagues of the Suffolk County Council Social Club, the venue alternating between Norwich and Ipswich. There is also an inter– departmental competition for a cup donated by Dr.T.Ruddock-West, County Medical Officer, in 1935.

Food

250 Club

For £1 per month, paid with your subscriptions, you can be entered in our monthly draw with cash prizes of £50, £20, £10, £5 & £2.50. The draw takes place on the last Friday of each month in the Clubhouse.

Norwich City Football Club

The club leases and operates the County Hall car park for home games. Club members park free (if you do not have a car park sticker, pl. produce your membership card).

 

 

 

Management

The Club is managed by 9 officers and 10 representatives elected at the AGM each May. All Full and Associate Members are eligible for election. The official Club rules are freely available for inspection.

Suggestions are welcome and there is a Suggestion Box in the bar.

Rules

Each member may bring into the Club up to 5 guests on any occasion and is responsible for ensuring that they are signed into the Visitors Book. A guest may not be eligible to join the Club in their own right. No person may enter the Club as a guest on more than 4 occasions in a calendar month. Members’ own children, under 18, need not be signed in and do not count towards the 5 guest limit. Children are permitted in the Club and bar at most times but must be accompanied by an adult and properly supervised. Under 18’s may not purchase or consume alcohol.
